IPv6 With ISP That Only Does 6rd

Community iconc/selfhosted@lemmy.world by
Jul (they/she)@piefed.blahaj.zone

I’ve mostly stuck with IPv4 in my LAN, but ive been wanting more and more to more to move to IPv6, if only for the learning experience. Since my ISP only uses 6rd and so I can’t get a static IP much less a GUA subnet to use, I’m trying to decide strategy for setting up the network, NAT, etc. And I know it’s probably not worth the effort, but again at this point it’s more a learning exercise.

Security Scanning

Hey guys. I have a few selfhosted systems that are available to the public. Its getting difficult to notice if any wrong port is still open or some web server is out of date. I am looking for a (foss) tool that can reguarly monitor my systems (via their public ip/domain) and notify me if any port that I not specifically allowed (in a config) is open. Additionally it would be cool if it checked all open ports if they provide out of date software (like webservers) or known security issues.

So…with all this openclaw stuff, I was wondering, what’s the FOSS status for something to run locally? Can I get my own locally run agent to which I can ask to perform simple tasks (go and find this, download that, summarize an article) or things like this? I’m just kinda curious about all of this.

So I have been seeing tos reruns and im just boggled by the skirts. Its like anime fan service as you get glimpses of starfleet standard issue panties. Im sitting here thinking. How did I not notice how short they were as a young boy growing up. Like I knew you saw a lot of leg and they were short but feels like wow seeing it now. My best guess is given broadcast resolution back in the day and having a tv under 20 inches and the fuzzyness of analogue rabit ears. Maybe it was not so noticable. Now im seeing it though on HD broadcast to a 90 inch screen and its like. yowzaa!! Seriously its like a live action anime.

Asset Management Recommendations

Community iconc/selfhosted@lemmy.world by
blackwall@lemmy.world

Not sure if this is the exact right terminology, but essentially I’m looking for recommendations for a self-hosted solution (Linux) allowing creation of records for things like car, house, computer etc. with the ability to add notes for things like servicing, upgrades, processes and procedures. A nice to have, but not essential feature, could be a calendar with reminders on upcoming events relating to each asset. I’ve considered setting up a wiki, static site CMS or even just a note taker like Obsidian or LogSeq, but figure there are probably more dedicated tools out there. Also I have little to no experience with those listed, other than static site CMS which I use for work in web development. Thanks in advance for recommendations that are working for you.

Hey yall! I’m stoned af and watching star trek on a weekend, naturally. I lost my place since last weekend in TNG season 3, but I knew that I wasn’t far in so I just watched all the intros until I found where I left off. Episode 8 “the price”, Troi gets frustrated with the replicator for wanting a “real” chocolate sundae. This raised a question for me, wouldn’t food replicators be intelligent enough to simulate the process of “the standard” ingredients being processed into the recipe? Like I thought that was the point of being able to say “Earl grey tea, hot”. Like wouldn’t she just have to say “betazoid chocolate sundae” or whatever?

How does one get started with the *arr stack?

Community iconc/selfhosted@lemmy.world by
Goddard Guryon@sopuli.xyz

Hey guys! After over 2 years of me asking how to take the first steps in self-hosting, I think I’ve finally got most of the things I need set up (except for a mailcow server proxied through a VPS, but that’s for another day). I’ve been seeing a bunch of posts here about the *arr stack, and only recently it piqued my interest enough to really warrant a serious look. But I’ll be honest, it’s a bit confusing. For now, I’m just thinking of starting up the whole suite on my machine, then slowly expose to internet the parts I find useful (and shut down the parts I don’t). But I really can’t find any good…tutorial(?) on how to quickly get the whole stack running, and I’m a bit worried about launching individual apps since I don’t know if/how they communicate with each other. So I’ll try to summarize my, quite naïve, questions here:
